ABOUT SUSAN
Susan Lloyd is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience helping individuals on a variety of issues including addiction, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, LGBTQ+ identity/coming out, career transitions, grief/loss and health concerns. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago & Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration and has worked in corporate, higher education and hospital settings. Susan is amazed by what therapy can bring to someone’s life and has experienced this personally and as a practitioner.
She offers an empathetic and warm approach focused on creating an environment of honesty, encouragement and safety to access deeper aspects of oneself to live a more full life. She views therapy as a collaboration where you work together to build upon your personal strengths and resources to heal from loss, trauma or emotional difficulties and to let go of old habits and behaviors that are no longer helpful.
Susan works from relational, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches to best meet client goals. Susan has completed an Externship in Emotionally-Focussed Therapy (EFT) with Dr. Sue Johnson in Toronto, Canada. She is also Certified in Assessing and Treating Sexual Issues in Psychotherapy by the Institute for Relational Therapy.
